Tracie Stanfield

Tracie Stanfield’s choreography ranges from commissions from Tapestry
Dance Company and Underground Dance Project to full length ballets for
New York Performers’ Project to musical theatre productions for
Vital Theater Company and Mirrored Musicals to commercial work for The
Ricki Lake Show and Mercedes Benz.
Ms. Stanfield has served as creative consultant for numerous productions
throughout the US and Europe. Her work has been seen at The Elan Awards,
the remember project / Dancers Responding to AIDS, The Jazz Dance Festival
Artists Excellence Award, The International Dance Festival and Arts On
The Hudson Festival, among others.
As the Artistic Director of Synthesis Dance Project, Tracie Stanfield’s
work has been seen at The Jazz Dance World Congress, Tribeca Performing
Arts Center, Symphony Space, and the Richard Ellner Theatre. Ms. Stanfield
has recently established an educational/performance opportunity for young
dancers making the transition from young dance student to young performing
artist: Synthesis Too, the apprentice company of Synthesis Dance Project
premiered in April 2002 at Performance Outlet in NYC. She is currently
on staff at Broadway Dance Center in NYC and continues to teach across
the US and Canada.

Class Description
Int/Adv JAZZ and Adv Beg LYRICAL
JAZZ : A jazz class with an emphasis on technique and
expression. The warm-up is designed to strengthen and increase
flexibility, working across the floor helps to connect the
movement and the combination challenges the dancer to dance
from the inside out. Combinations range from lyrical to contemporary,
fast paced jazz.
Adv Beg TAP: Building a solid vocabulary
and exploring more intricate rhythms, students will increase confidence
and articulation in their tap skills.
Adv Beg JUMPS & TURNS: This class
will increase a student's vocabulary by introducing a variety of turns
and leaps and the methods and mechanics to stronger dancing. This class
will work on correct alignment and strength needed to improve turning
technique and to jump more efficiently. Students should have a foundation
in ballet or jazz (2 years experience)
A short warm up is followed by exercises for balance and placement. Progressions
are given to strengthen vocabulary and technique of jumps and turns. Understanding
of jazz/ballet terminology is required. |
