Class Description

In theater, a song or dance occurs when the emotional state of a character, or characters, becomes so heightened that they can no longer express themselves in words. Jason's choreography is based in the reality of his characters; the who, what, when where and why of their existence. It`s about using dance to add another dimension to the character. His class is about teaching his students how to tell a story through dance with the same specificity and as comfortably and confidently as they would through singing and acting. The warm up is designed to create awareness of, and teach the proper use of, the muscles we use when we dance as well as to build strength and flexibility. He uses basic technique and applies it to the various styles and movements in his work. His across the floor exercises are designed to prepare the dancer for the day's combination and to teach you how to use what you already know and apply it to the movement. He uses a variety of different turning combinations to prepare you for any audition. Combinations range in style and difficulty, but are always FUN!!!
