Luam began dancing with African Rhythms Dance Company in Philadelphia
and Ballet Shango before moving to NY. She continued
her training at Broadway Dance Center and Djoniba Dance Center
studying Jazz, Hip-Hop, Ballet, West African, Cuban, Modern, & Haitian.
Here, she also met Rhapsody, director of Rhapsody: The Company
of which she was an active member for several years.
Her passion for dance grew to teaching and choreography & she
began teaching at Djoniba Dance Center and NY Sports Clubs
in 2000. While teaching and training, her career has brought
her to artists and stages all over the world. She has choreographed
for TV commercial campaigns (MTV's Hip Hop Week, Mastercard,etc.)
and various recording artists (Kris, Joe Buddens, etc.).
She has also danced for Ludacris, Kelis, Kanye West, Ashanti,
etc. She currently performs with soca artist Kevin Lyttle

Class Description
Adv Beg/Int HIP-HOP: Luam's class
incorporates elements of West/East African & Jazz
with various Hip-Hop styles. The class may use different
genres of music
besides Hip-Hop though that is the primary musical influence.
It is a high impact & eclectic class open to students
eager to increase their dance vocabulary.
Advanced Beginner: Tue. 4:30-6:00 pm
Intermediate: Fri. 4:30-6:00 pm
Int Adv HIP-HOP STAGE/ VIDEO PERFORMANCE: This class will focus on performance skills in hip hop & street
jazz necessary for stage and video. We will explore elements
like staging, choreography execution, working with artists,
levels, style, working with other dancers and performers
to create a vision onstage or for video. We wil also explore
the differences in performance between those two elements
as well as the execution levels necessary to be a strong
dancer/performer in those venues. Be prepared to push your
limits of personality, darama, and presentation as well as
maintain clean choreography and execution.
