Finis Jhung is one of America's most
sought-after ballet instructors. Hailed as a brilliant, exciting and elegant
dancer with the San Francisco, Joffrey and Harkness Ballet Companies,
he brings those qualities and a fresh vision of ballet instruction to
his classes each day. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, of Korean-Scottish-English
parents, Finis studied ballet with William F.Christensen at the University
of Utah, where he graduated magna cum laude.
Finis danced in the Broadway, national and Hollywood versions of Flower
Drum Song. After his professional dancing career he began teaching
in New York City and, since 1972, has been a source of enlightenment for
ballerinas of New York City Ballet and ABT, gypsies from the Broadway
stage, aspiring professionals and amateur adult beginners.
Class Description
Adv Beg BALLET:
We will start each class with barre exercises that concentrate on strengthening your supporting side so that you will have a leg to stand on in center floor. The barre will be accelerated with constant changes of feet as well as full-body stretches. The center work will include adagio work, simple pirouettes as well as turns in large poses and little and big jumps that travel across the floor.
