From Broadway to London’s West End, Japan,
China, North America and most of Europe, Ben Hartley has
traveled extensively as a professional dancer and singer,
performing on stage, in television, and in film. Born in
Cheshire, England, Ben was a principal dancer with Matthew
Bourne’s
Tony award winning dance company, Adventures In Motion Pictures,
responsible for the Broadway hit Swan Lake. Other
productions with AMP include Cinderella,
Spitfire and The Car-man.
Ben was a member of English National Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera Ballet and was a featured dancer at the Santa Fe Opera. Ben was recently seen in the Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof and is currently performing in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Hilton Theater. Other musical theater productions include Cats, West Side Story, and Fosse, where he was chosen by Ann Reinking to perform a principal track. Modeling work has included companies such as Ericsson, Aveda, New Yorker magazine and American Vogue, for which he was photographed by Steven Meisel.
Currently living and working in NYC, he is now on faculty at BDC, specializing in Theater Dance. He is also a regular guest teacher for AMP, New Adventures in London, England and is a guest teacher for various schools across Europe and the United States. He has choreographed for the London based Ballet Central tour, various TV specials, industrials and cabaret. During summer 2004, Ben choreographed a new production of Gypsy starring Andrea McArdle at the UHCL Bayou Theater in Houston, Texas.

Adv Beg and Int THEATRE DANCE:
Theatre Dance is not just about dancing, it’s
about performing. This class gives you the chance to put it
all into play. Beginning each class with a structured warm
up of all major body parts with strengthening and stretch.
There is also a strong emphasis on technique, this being the
ultimate platform for any type of performer. Ben is a very
encouraging, energetic, hands-on teacher that can easily pin
point what students need to improve upon to get the results
they require.
Ben believes that class should be fun yet challenging,
not only for the body but also the mind. As a result of Ben’s
performing experience, his Theatre Dance repertoire is extensive,
Fosse being a specialty. If you are prepared to work hard
Ben will help you to achieve the results you desire. An inspiring
class for anyone who has an interest or is currently working in the
performing arts.
