Linda Farrell Linda Farrell has been
teaching Pilates mat for the last ten years at Equinox and
the Broadway Dance Center. Students marvel at how long and
lean they feel after one of her inspiring classes. Linda’s
clear articulation, poise and precise cueing make for her
unique style and distinguish her as one of the most popular
Pilates Mat teachers in New York City.
Linda’s initial training was at the Pilates Studio
of Physical and Mental Body Conditioning (Studio) in New York
City where she studied with master teacher, Romana Kryzanowska.
After completing her certification in 1993, Linda worked for
the Studio training students on both the mat and apparatus.
Soon after, she discovered she had a unique talent for describing
and articulating the mat exercises to her students. Linda
took this skill with her to the Equinox Health Clubs where
she pioneered the Pilates program introducing the first mat
class in the winter of 1994.
Achieving great success and acclaim for her Equinox mat classes,
Linda left the Studio and devoted her time and energy to developing
the Pilates mat program at Equinox. Within a short time, Linda
implemented a Pilates Mat program at Broadway Dance Center.
Today the Pilates Mat class is one of the hottest, most crowded
classes at Equinox, and the Broadway Dance Center, with demand
for classes increasing.
Linda Farrell’s popularity and success as a Pilates
Mat teacher have propelled her to the forefront in her field.
Linda has conducted teacher-training workshops at major fitness
conferences such as the East Coast Alliance, the Broadway
Dance Center, and the Fitness Factory. She has appeared as
a Pilates expert in diverse media such as The Regis and Kathy
Lee Show, The Today Show, and Good Morning America, and has
been featured in the magazines Elle, Woman’s Day, Good
Housekeeping, Vogue, Shape and Fitness. Linda also has her
own series of Pilate’s tapes and DVD’s called
Core Conditioning.
Linda is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance, a certified
yoga teacher through the White Lotus Foundation, and an ACE
certified personal trainer. She holds an MBA in Marketing
from Baruch College.
Linda’s reputation and regard by others as a “teacher’s
teacher” have inspired her to develop her own Pilates
Mat Certification Program. The program is especially designed
for group fitness, or dance instructors wishing to add the
Pilates Mat workout to their teaching repertory. Non-teachers
are welcome to apply, but will be accepted only if they successfully
meet the prerequisites for the program.
Former students and teaching peers have taken the program
and have praised Linda for her focus, clarity, and thoroughness
in presenting and teaching the mat exercises. This intensive
program includes 6 full weekends of training giving one the
necessary skills and tools to teach an effective Pilates Mat
class.
