Madame Darvash
Madame Darvash

World-renowned Kirov trained teacher Madame Gabriela Darvash was Artistic Director and resident choreographer for the State Opera Ballet in Cluj, Roumania for 14 years. Since 1972 she has resided in New York, running her own school from 1976 to 1988. Writing in the New York Times Anna Kisselgoff and Jennifer Dunning have praised her ability to create beautiful, strong, artistically expressive dancers.

Mikhail Baryshnikov has also been quoted in The New York Times calling Mme Darvash "one of the distinguished and fine ballet pedagogues in America." One of her students, a principal dancer with New York City Ballet has written "her method of teaching has changed my life......her devotion to this method and the care she takes with each of her students reminds me very much of the way Mr. Balanchine used to teach his classes."

ALL LEVELS: Ideal for students who wish to concentrate on technique and yearn for musicality. For students who fall out of pirouettes or are unable to maintain balance securely, Madame's unique method, based on deep knowledge of anatomy and mechanics, is a revelation. Adv Beg BALLET: Excercises at the barre and in the center, while using the basic elements of ballet movement, are musically interesting and teach the fundamentals necessary for mastering more complex elements.

Int BALLET: Longer and more complex petite battements, adagio, petite allegro and greater attention to style and port de bras continues to build the student's technical and artistic abilities.

Adv BALLET: Complex patterns and utilization of the complete vocabulary of ballet movements to maintain, strengthen and refine the professional dancer's mastery of his/her art.
