Class Description
My class is a forum of physical and creative exploration. With a background in anatomy and kinesiology, I apply this knowledge when structuring my warm up and all exercises. Dancers that train with me build a strong body, technically and physically, have a comprehensive understanding of how to properly train and a greater kinesthetic awareness within the movement.
My athletic, contemporary style of choreography pushes past a conventional dance vocabulary and inspires dancers to explore their technical and emotional realm. I choreograph a variety of jazz styles:
contemporary, lyrical, commercial, theatrical and traditional jazz.
Whether using classical, pop, rock or experimental music, the combinations emphasize the relationship between the body in motion and the spirit of self-expression.
Class work consists of a series of exercises derived from ballet and modern, using weight exchange, balance, contractions, working off center, and core work; all emphasizing technique, stretching and conditioning the body. Across the floor is series of challenging jumps and turns that involve transitional and directional work. It focuses on agility, style and supports the work in the combination. Each progression has a specific intention and puts technique into action.
Whether my students are working professionals, fellow teachers, or aspiring young dancers, I strive to address each dancer at every level.
It is important for me to create a supportive atmosphere where dancers can discover their creative process while trying something different.
My class is a place where dancers are motivated to improve their skills and unleash their inner artist while doing something they love!
